Erik Larson

Ah, to be 23 again. So young, so innocent. I remember it well. Mistakes were inevitably made, but perhaps you learned from those mistakes, as I did, when I was 23, so long ago.

Most likely, you were not the mayor of your town at the age of 23. 23-year-old Erik Larson, on the other hand, is the mayor of his town of Aberdeen, Washington (hometown of Kurt Cobainas of last night. Yesterday, he won the mayoral election in a veritable landslide, garnering over 72% of the vote. Perhaps you are Erik Larson but, if not, I'm sure you're doing just fine for yourself too. Comparing yourself to others doesn't get you anywhere.

Anyway, Mr. Larson, an engineer, has got big plans for his time as mayor, according to the Daily World:

“I’ll be spending a lot of time talking with everybody at City Hall, talking with the outside stakeholders in the community and business owners and people,” he said. “We have some opportunity for investment in the area and some partners that are looking to see this city grow and I want to continue my conversations with them.”

Larson addressed criticisms of his youth on his campaign page, writing that he believes being young enables him to "bring new, realistic ideas to the table and a long-term commitment to recreating an Aberdeen city government that is open and honest with the taxpayers." Good for you, Erik.
